Leave water for feral cats

Feral cats need water desperately. You can’t imagine how much feral cats need humans to leave water for them, especially in this hot climate.

Cats don’t drink much, but cats and kittens do need to drink sometimes. Where I leave, it’s California-like climate, steamy and hot like the inside of a washing machine. Stray cats don’t have the luxury of an air-conditioner or even a roof over their furry hears to protect them from the blistering sun.

Leaving containers with water in yards and parks is extremely helpful. I do that in summertime. It almost never rains in the summer. Whole summers go by without a drop of rain, no puddles to drink from.

I shot a video of a feral cat drinking, but she got startled and refused to drink as long as the camera was there, so I walked away. She went right back to the water container. The video was pretty much cut short, but she is cute. Here it is.

Treat your cat with this Purina Fancy Feast chicken in gravy. Cats can’t resist the rich aroma, soft, wet texture of gravy, and the delicious taste. Tiny, tender cuts with vitamins and minerals cats need. To view a variety of other meals such as liver, beef, tuna, seafood, cheddar cheese, and more, click here.

  1. Aw, what a sweet kitty! She’s adorable. God bless you for doing this. So many feral kitties resort to drinking from unhealthy water sources, which cut their lives too short. This fresh water is probably one of the greatest blessings in their day. Thank you for caring so much! 💕

    1. I know a lady who feeds dozens of feral cats, talk to her sometimes. There are cats feeders around here, and I think I know them all. Two are men, and the other four or so women. We talk.

I knew a lady in one of my previous jobs who fed both feral cats and hedgehogs.

  2. A beautiful thing to do to help those cats get through the hottest part of the year especially. She was definitely wary, but her eyes seemed very bright and alert. I hope she will be OK.
